Living in San Francisco would probably not be your best choice with your kids. It's a city and there is not alot of room for them to just be kids.Daly City is not the best place either. You should look into Pacifica. It's just over the hill and a world away. It's right on Highway 1,one of the most beautiful places in CA. It has a small town feel and crimes is really minimal. We are on coast,so sports for youth are surfing, skate park or Soccer. The schools share the same district with Daly City but have a smaller attitude with more appeal to parents.I grew up here with five siblings and now am raising my 3 kids here. I know they can walk to school safely, and not be afraid to play outside. They have the freedom to just be kids in a small town environment. We are just outside of Daly City and San Francisco is a short commute. Why not look into Pacifica?

KRISTINsf will become famous soon enoughKRISTINsf will become famous soon enough
Ew

Come on!

I just have never been fond of Daly City.

Why? When San Francisco is right next door. What is your price range btw?

I mean, if you like that whole "scene" (or lack thereof), than go right ahead.

I forgot...what's that little shopping center...Westlake Center! Yeahh...A new Starbucks so I guess that's a draw.

lol

You do realize the Westlake Center is right around the corner from San Francisco.. well, Oceanview Village anyway. San Francisco is, to me, where you live just to feel proud that you live there. That doesn't have value to me, because there aren't any real tangible benefits to living in SF over the northern peninsula. It's just more money for everything from rent to parking, insurance, and transportation costs to where the real jobs are. I'll just have to agree to disagree with anyone who puts the City on a pedestal just because it's the City.

Thanks everyone and sorry for the delay... but I think burlingame is probably going to be the route we'll take. pacifica, well, I want to be able to be close at hand if there's an emergency and kids need me. kwim? Job wise, I'd still have to commute to SF... even though it's a meesly 30 min???
Want to avoid any commuting for me if it's over 15 min from my kids.

is burlingame elementary school like san frans in so much that it's all lotto system????

No, Burlingame's school system is based on districting borders.

You can afford to live in San Francisco. I wouldn't recommend Daly City for living. The schools are bad and the weather is almost always foggy and cold. Also, the population is not that diverse it's almost like 60-70% Asian I believe.

To the above poster: It's not a bad place, I mean if you want to live close to the city or are on a budget, it's fine. However, if you can afford to live in San Francisco you should instead. It's much better than Oakland or even San Bruno in my opinion. If you don't have kids, the weather is really the only major downer.
