Default Emeryville (east bay) or Daly City, CA????

I wonder which place you can recommend to live in which it is safer, affordable (1000-1800/ 2bd apartment), raising a 1year old kid, and not a ghetto.

Thanks for your time and would love to receive any info and advice from you!

If it's just between the two I would pick Daly City over Emeryville any day.

Hm, I live in Emeryville but have no kids, and I like being there for many reasons, but it's not really a family area like Daly City. That being said, your baby is only one year old, so you won't need streets to play on, etc. If you're looking for a long term place where the child will interact and play in the neighborhood, then go for Daly City. But if you just need something for a couple of years, then Emeryville may be more convenient with its ample shopping and convenient access to the freeways. Daly City is pretty boring, and it's almost always cold and foggy. Emeryville is much sunnier. And all the apartment complexes are gated and secured. But the schools are terrible and it's not good for raising kids long term.

Daly City is a decent family place, not as good as Burlingame or Hillsborough but not as nosebleedish either. There are some outstanding elementary schools in Daly City, South San Francisco, and San Bruno, mainly in the hills west of Hwy 82, but it suffers a bit at the middle and HS level.
