Default Transportation from UC Berkeley to Amtrak station

Hi, My 17 yr old daughter will be staying the night with her friend who is a student at UC Berkeley. She will be taking Amtrak back home to Sacramento. Does anyone know the best way for her to get to either the Berkeley or Emoryville Amtrak station from campus?

There's a bus (AC Transit #51) that goes directly from UC Berkeley to the Berkeley Amtrak station, which is a good bet during the day. If it's at night, I'd have her grab a cab to the Emeryville station (which is inside and staffed, vs. Berkeley which is outdoors and not staffed, and in a neighborhood that, while yuppy, empties out almost entirely at night).
