Default Marina Bay Richmond, CA

I am considering buying a condo very soon in Marina Bay. I want to spend time with friends and colleagues in SF and Marin. Does anyone have advice on public transportation (safe) back to Marina Bay in the evening? Other Marina Bay advice? Much appreciated

I work near there, and looked at the condos too... they're very nice, and quite a good deal! Of course Richmond has its ups & downs, but that area is mostly fine. It sits at the edge of "bad Richmond" but is also close to the nicest parts, and has a beautiful waterfront with walking paths. Gee, I sound like a real estate agent - LOL. As for public transportation, you'd have to take AC Transit from the Richmond or Del Norte BART. Not the safest route by any means, but hopefully it drops you right in Marina Bay (since it's iffy a few blocks away). You can check the details here: Transit.511.org

To get to San Francisco, you'll want to drive to the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and ride from there. To get to Marin, you should just drive. Traffic isn't bad on 580 and public transport is rather limited.

I'd agree... unfortunately, since that's why I am forced to drive my daily commute.

I live in Marina Bay and commute daily. I take the #74 from Regatta and Marina Bay Parkway to the Richmond BART - takes 6 minutes. Then right on to San Francisco. I leave very early (I catch a bus at 6:33 and am at my desk by 7:20 a.m.) and my return is early, too - I am usually home before 5:30, but from the front of the BART station to Marina Bay is a pretty quick cab/bus ride so I feel pretty safe.

I really enjoy Marina Bay. Friends and family are surprised when they visit for the first time.

Hello there...we have our eye on a unit there but we have no car. How long of a walk is it to the closest public transportation. I was hoping that there would be a shuttle to bart. You assitance is so greatly appreciated.

It's about a 10-15 min. walk from my unit, which is on the Bayside Court side (farther from the bus stop) to the bus stop. The bus runs every half hour and, esp. in the a.m., is pretty good about being on schedule (much better than SF MUNI!)

It's about 1/4-1/3 of a mile. There is the Longs and Amini's for groceries and stuff within walking distance; otherwise I shop at work and bring stuff home.

i'd avoid public transit through richmond since it is not safe. driving to el cerito bart is an option as is driving directly. takes about 30mins to downtown sf.
