Photos of My November Visit to San Francisco (Part One - Alamo Square and the UofSF areas)
Here is my first of several San Francisco threads of various neighborhoods. Fantastic city and I had fantastic weather from the 13th until the 19th of November. Thank you to those who provided me with recommendations. It was 75 or 80 each day and very unusual for this time of year, so I lucked out with blue skies and swimming suits on the beach. Hope you enjoy the first set of my pics - Denver Aztec!
I stayed with my dear friend Vanessa in her neighborhood Alamo Square, which is next to the Haight/Asbury and Golden Gate Park areas. This is her wonderful pad:
Alamo Square Park, some of the best views in the city:
This is the kind of Victorian I am use to seeing in Denver, more trees and yards surrounding them. However, even those that are clustered in San Francisco are wonderfully maintained. Exquisite city and incredibly unique, nothing like it in the world.
This would have been a wonderful house to grow up in as a kid. Imagine climbing all over the inside and the outside. Gives hide and go seek a whole new meaning.
Few SUVs in the city with these garages. Our mode of transportation was by Scooter!
Saint Ignatius on the UofSF campus in the distance. I will take you inside in the pics below.
From what Vanessa said, the bright paints and fluorescents were wildly popular in the past, 60s maybe. Thank God most are not as dramatic anymore.
Boots to match the bike! Very cool!

More Shots!
My favorite church in the whole city, Saint Ignatius Church was dedicated in 1914. It serves as the university's chapel, and in 1994, the Archdiocese of San Francisco reinstated Saint Ignatius' status as a parish, serving the surrounding neighborhood.
The present church's architecture is a mix of Italian Renaissance and Baroque elements, and its floor plan follows that of ancient Roman basilicas. Though Saint Ignatius Church survived the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake unscathed, it was recently renovated and seismically reinforced. One of the city's largest churches, its location on a hilltop as well as its twin spires and dome makes it a prominent San Francisco landmark.
University of San Francisco (USF) is a private, Jesuit, Roman Catholic university founded in 1855. USF is the oldest institution for higher learning in San Francisco and the second oldest institution for higher learning in California.
USF's main campus is located on a hilltop in a 55-acre setting between the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park and is equidistant from the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. USF's nickname is "The Hilltop," appropriately named since the campus is located at the peak of one of San Francisco's major hills. USF's 8,500-member student body is composed of students from seventy-five countries, and is ranked in the Top 15 national universities for student diversity and international student enrollment.
Most of the city buses are connected to these cables to run gasoline free and actually provide more power to get up the hills.
More to come of the Mission Dolores, South of Market, Coit Tower, Baker Beach, Palace of Fine Arts and the Embarcadero.

I also was in SF from Nov.14-18. The weather was perfect. I stayed near Scott and Fell. The Hayes/Haught area I think. I was thinking of moving there before I went, and I loved it so much I am planning on moving there for sure now. I am a professional, single, no kids, and think S.F. will be an awesome place to live. I just need to find some affordable housing for me and two dogs. Thank you for the pictures. K.

Hi DenverAztec,
Your pics of the Victorian houses are very beautiful, as well as the ones of that amazing church! I was also in SF around the same time you and kellieann were: Nov 15-19. Yes, the weather was perfect. I was amazed at how hot it was! Had a great time. I also went on a tour of Victorian houses while there and caught some great views of the Bay from Lafayette Park. Unfortunately, the fog rolled in late on the 18th, but my trip was about over by then.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your pics.
