Do they even exist? I don't mind a 1.25 hour commute.

I hope you're not thinking about that price range. There are plenty of homes that look like that but you need to go out to the east bay. Maybe the southbay too. Dublin is one place that has lots of new construction. So does Hercules, Antioch, Brentwood (suburbs without their own BART transit station). If you are looking for something even cheaper, yes you would have to go out to Tracy or maybe even Stockton. That is an awful commute and something you probably wouldn't want to do.

At times, even Oakland can be a 1.25 hour commute from San Francisco. By the time you get out to an area where you can get a brand-new house for under $200K, you're talking 2 hours plus.

If you look very closely, you can see that the garage in the first picture has a little house tucked in behind it.

You need to add one more zero to the price. Then you're golden.

Brentwood, Antioch - lots of foreclosures in this area. Much of this area is nice with newer homes, shopping centers and schools. Don't know anything about the quality of the schools. The commute to San Francisco however can be just plain awful on any given day.
