Nowhere is "ridiculously safe". It's all about how effective law enforcement is in your area. Again WC has a great police department. Remove WCPD and trust me you will see crime.

Yes i'm sure all those families in Walnut Creek fear for their safety. Also what is your point about removing the police force? You aren't serious are you? lol. You move the police from any town and you'll see some form of crime.

SF has more name recognition than Oakland so they tend to lump stats in with SF. It happens.
Gang activity in Pasaden is really happening in the NW area that borders Altadena.
Crime stats for Altadena is very high

No they don't lump Oakland Crime with SF crime. What are you talking about? Stop making up stuff. So what that article is 2 years old. You'll never find an article about WC that has 6 gang shootings in a month or even in a year or even EVER.

I said WC is not conservative then you went off on some tangent about how you've lived here and there. So I guess whenever someone quotes you that is reason enough to mention some random information that has little to nothing to do with what I originally said...

I have lived in Paris, London, Rome, Beijing....etc. They are not WC. That was my point.

And no one ever claimed they were or was even remotely comparing WC to those cities. It's a pointless point b/c no one asked for a comparison of some upper middle class suburb in CA to major world class cities.

I will still think WC is conservative and boring (based on my life experience).
And you will still think it's not (based on your life experience).

Yeah well some of us are little more open minded than that and can appreciate a place for what it is rather than always comparing it to someplace one thinks is better.

As far as my experiance with crime in WC, it's mostly just thefts and burglaries rather than violent crime. My parents house was burglarized a couple of years ago and some expensive jewelery, family heirlooms, and checks were taken (which they tries to cash). Just make sure you lock your doors. And when I was younger I had a bike stolen from the library downtown. And of course the WCPD was absolutely no help, after we reported the stolen bike to the police we were leaving and my mom noticed someone carrying a bike in the park across the street so she started running and yelling after them and I ran across the street to the police. A motorcycle cop was sitting there and I told him we caught the people that stole my bike and he just told me to go tell the officer I originally reported it too instead of getting off his fat a*s and going after the guy. Also if you're black don't drive through WC unless you like being pulled over.

Cityboy, no you have not heard of gang activity in WC. But you might if you are too close to the border of Concord. But they might report it as having an incident in Concord than WC. Don't make me pull out more stats to show you how they often group Oakland and surrounding areas stats together because they do, do it.
sav858, uhmm don't know about getting pulled over in WC if you are black though. Think one is more likely to get pulled over in Marin than WC. You do see more of a mixture in WC.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The Area of Concord that borders WC is a well off part of concord by De La Salle high school.
Pull out those stats that link Oakland with San Francisco and other cities when it comes to crime. Please show us all. Show us how Alameda is linked with Oakland crime wise and how the crime stats show Alameda having 86 murders. Please show us. Please keep proving you know nothing about the Bay Area also.

Jesus Christ does it really matter to you whether I like walnut creek or not? C'mon now.
I hope you thrive there, become super estatically happy and have a great life.
It's not for me.
And I didn't say that it couldn't be a good place to live for the OP, if you go back and read what I wrote in the first place.
I think a lot of y'all just like to f-ing argue.
I do not know everything nor am I always correct.
I'm open to learning and having a discussion about things.

No I was just stating how absurd it is to randomly compare it to major world class cities.

As do you, it takes two or more people too argue in case you weren't aware and you're just as guilty as anyone else in this thread of that. So maybe a quick look in the mirror would help you understand that.

Maybe more likely in Marin but it still does happen in WC. At least that was my observations growing up there, I just saw that happen more often than I would have liked. WC cops can be a bit overzealous.
