Default American Canyon Area

Does anyone have anything to say about living in American Canyon, either positive or negative?

Thanks.

Well on the positive side it is safe, inexpensive (compared to other places in the Napa Valley) and centrally located for commuters. On the negative side it has to be one of the most boring places on earth, and the traffic through town is right awful.

American Canyon is pretty much an in-between place, without much community of its own. This might change with the opening of its new high school (all AmCan students had to be bussed into Napa) but I dunno. Basically its lots of houses without really anything to do that does not require driving (unless shopping at Safeway counts). It also suffers from identity issues as it is pitched to prospective homebuyers as "Southern Napa Valley," or even worse "The Gateway to the Napa Valley," both titles that the city of Napa resents (since they have identity issues of their own).

If you see your home as a place to sleep then AmCan may be the place for you, but if you see your home as part of a larger vibrant community then this 'aint it.

Yup to all of the above. I don't know much about the town (which in itself says something), but used to drive through every day when I commuted to Napa... I just thought of it as the place with cheap gas, LOL. It's fairly affordable by BA standards and has some nice scenery, plus it is convenient to Napa, Vallejo, Fairfield, SF, etc. Aside from that, I don't think it has a lot to offer - sorry.
