Default Atwater Aviator baseball

My son has been invited to play for the Atwater Aviator college summer baseball team. He is a Division 1 player from the Midwest. Will he enjoy Atwater and its surroundings in the summer when he is not playing ball? Please give us some info

Atwater, which is not near San Francisco, is near Merced in the San Joaquin Valley. The valley is a flat agriculture area with warm summers. It sort of has a mid-west feel to it. Atwater was the home of Castle Air Force Base (now decomissioned). There is a great air museum there .: Castle Air Museum - Atwater, California :.. Hence the name of the baseball team, I assume.

You should have put this post in the California forum. Not many people near San Francisco know much about Atwater.

I should have mentioned that about 1 hour drive east of Merced is Yosemite Nat. Park Yosemite National Park (U.S. National Park Service) and is worth a visit. Lots of camping, hiking, etc.
