How do you like Boulder? We almost moved there before we decided to move to Santa Cruz.

Knowing a little about Boulder, I bet you would have loved it and fit right in. Of course the weather would not have suited you, so guess, maybe it was good you choose California..

Exactly right Nita! Snow is just not my cup of tea. Hawaii would be my ideal weather, but unfortunately, it is not ideal for so many other reasons. We hear that the schools are terrible, the cost of living is out of control and there is a huge drug problem on the islands. Doesn't sound like a great place to raise kids.

I have heard Hawaii, has some awesome private schools, but I also think you have to get on the list before the kids are even born. I hope you can find the place that works best for you.

Boulder
Boulder is great. The first time I came here, when I was in high school, I felt like I found my home. I later came back to finish college at the U of Colorado, Boulder campus, and then never wanted to leave. After getting married, 1995 my husbands high tech job has taken us to Seattle area, Silicon Valley, and finally back to Boulder. I love this place. It is home.
Unfortunantly, most of the jobs in H field are in the Bay Area or Seattle Area.
So he wants to move back! Than is why I am looking at the city-data forum.
And real estate.
Private school does not make sence. If you have three kids, at $1,000 per month each on average that is a huge waste, better to find a good school system and pay more on the mortgage.

What is attachment parenting? My kids are grown and I think it should end at some point...but my kids are not getting that message...how do I practice detachment parenting?? Hope you found a nice place to live.

I don't know if you'll see this now but I'm wondering what you discovered about the air quality when you looked around here. I'm looking in the Pleasanton area as well, but it's difficult in the bay area to find somewhere with good air. Help?

We never looked around that area because everything said it was conservative (someone called it the Orange County of the Bay area). Perhaps you can start a new thread to get your answer.

My husband & I are vegetarian and we live in Pleasanton. I also teach veggie cooking here in the Tri-Valley (Pleasanton, Danville, San Ramon, Livermore & Dublin). Please come to our Veggie Potluck at the San Ramon library on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 1-4pm. See Tri-Valley Vegetarian Society for more info and potluck guidelines.

Thanks Fizbin, the Lamorinda area is the focus of my research now. We are planning to drive up there next weekend to check it out. I would love input from others about the area. The top notch schools and potentially warmer weather are the motivating factors for us.
