Default How does Mill Valley compare to Pacific Grove?

We live in Pacific Grove and LOVE it. We would love to stay but my husband was laid-off in December and couldn't find another job here.

My husband has received an offer in Emeryville, so we will be moving to the Bay Area. We have read a lot about the different cities and are trying to decide where we want to be. So far Mill Valley is my favorite, but I want to know how it compares to Pacific Grove and if it would be a good fit for our family. We have two small children and the things that are important to us are: a small slower-paced family oriented community/town, excellent public schools (ranked 8 or higher by greatschools.net, and 90 or higher by city-data.com), LOW crime/safe city, nice quiet streets and neighborhoods, good parks, less than an hour commute (with traffic) to Emeryville.

What do you like about Mill Valley? What do you dislike? How do you think the commute to Emeryville would be (normal hours 8am-5pm)? Is there a city in the Bay Area that is more like Pacific Grove than Mill Valley?

Thank you so much!
