Who wouldn't love to live in Berkeley?
Also, what is up with $1 million dollar foreclosures? Who is going to buy them, why aren't the banks reducing the price further? There are so many available million dollar foreclosures in areas like Blackhawk.

"Who wouldn't love to live in Berkeley? "
ME!
I got the hell out.
3 years was more than enough torture.
Overpriced rents, horrible local government, homlessness run rampant, litter, trash grabage everywhere, public sex acts, hippies...need I say more??
Christ.

Now I'm sure we're not talking about the same city...
I'm referring to Berkeley California... home to the University of California, among many other things.
I have no idea where Berkley is.
How long did you live in Berkely... 3 years... right?

WE are talking about Berkeley with UC Berkeley, and yes, it sucks.
Thank you.
3 years of hell. Pure hell.
You can't even eat a sandwich in a damn' park with out a pan handler ruining your meal by--
a) being the 14th person of the day to ask you for money
b) publicy DEFICATING IN FRONT OF YOU!!!

For some reason, you would think that a 3 year resident of "Berkley," would know it is spelled Berkeley.

It seems as though you moved away from the place so what is your point now? What is the problem? You should be commenting about how much you enjoy where ever you are at now.

If you read the details of the article it mentions that there are a disproportionate number of "low end" properties on the market, thus driving down the median price.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. There's no financial incentive for cities to build housing. I think it's short sighted of them to behave this way, but they do.

[quote=clongirl;7972104]I'm of the mindset that house prices MUST adjust to the median salary of the area.Anyone familiar with Housing Crash Continues, Bubble Pops would know that prices must reflect this basic economic principle. The banks are not lending money to people without proof of steady income, high FICO scores, and at LEAST 20% down payment. People that might have had huge holdings in the stock market no longer have that kind of cash anymore..many people are down 40%.

I LOVE this quote from that blog:
The government pretends to be interested in affordable housing, but now that housing is becoming affordable, they want to stop it? Their actions speak louder than their words.
