Default Dixon

Does anyone live in Dixon and have time to give me some info on it? I'm 30 years old and single, but I want to live in a quiet, semi-rural area, preferably near a good college (like UC Davis). I can't afford Davis prices, so I'm thinking Dixon might be a good bet. I've noticed that prices in Woodland are even lower, but have heard that Woodland can be a high-crime area. Is that just a rumor?

Also, I've looked online for companies in the area to see where I might work (administrative/event planning work) but am wondering where you and your friends and neighbors work. Do people you know who live there tend to flock to particularly industries or companies--do you and most people you know commute from Dixon to Fairfield, or Vacaville, or do most people you know commute to Davis? I'm wondering, in this economy, if a few major companies in the area go under, will a significant portion of the surrounding area become poor and depressed?

Thank you so much for any thoughts/insights you might have!
