Exclamation Job offer in Fairfield. Where do I live?

Hey everyone,
I just received a job offer in Fairfield. And I know nothing about the Bay area, except what I read on this forum. I have a wife and three kids (8, 5, 4). Can you guys please pass me your information on where the best place to live would be (i.e. schools, rent, quiet neighborhoods....)?
We are moving from Salem, OR, cant stand the rain any longer! We have been in Oregon for 3 years, before that we were in Houston, TX. Please help me out.....

Thank you for your time...

Napa would be one place you could live within accessible driving distance from Fairfield.

West Fairfield..aka "Green Valley" is beautiful, safe, good schools and feels like you're in the country (wineries, farms, farmer's markets) but with easy access to the rest of Fairfield (which I wouldn't recommend). New housing estates are becoming abundant over there and probably quite affordable. Another option would also be Napa, Vacaville, or Benicia..also commuting distance.

Vacaville and Benicia are more affordable, but Napa is really nice.

It depends a lot on what you want from your experience. Napa is awesome but I always think of it as somewhat touristy and liberal. Vacaville and Fairfield are probably more family oriented. They are almost burbs of San Francisco...

If the liberal lifestyle is what you want shoot for Napa Valley, if not, try and find someplace near where you will be working. By the way, I am not a strong supporter of Craigslist, but it will give you ideas. Will your wife be working as well?

I would even consider Davis, a bit more pricey, but a nice environment.

I had thought about that as well, but decided if he isn't thrilled with the prices in Fairfield area Davis would certainly not be what he is wanting.

My wife has been a stay at home mom... we would like to keep that untill the two babies start first grade or so... I have no idea what they want to pay me, I am waiting for the second interview to discuss it... I currently make $50,000 in Salem, Oregon... with the cost of living between the two states I would assume that they would offer more, but you know what happens when you assume..... And as a side note, I am staying within the company that I am currently employed by...
Thanks y'all, I appreciate all the info... The more the better...
