my pug and her health
i have a 8 1/2 year old pug. she is my world. unfortunately, she has a bad hip and possibly issues with her spine. the problem with her hip can be resolved but not unless i rule out the spinal issue. the bottom line is, i need to get a cat scan of her back and cannot afford it. i will do anything i can to help my little girl but i odnt have the means. does anyone know of any vet program or hospital that may possibly charge less? maybe an vet eductaion program that may need to do some xrays for demos?
thanks everyone! i hope this will help.

There are several vet tech and vet educational programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I don't know if any of them will be willing to take your case. You should do a Google search and then call them up and ask for specifics and whether or not they'll consider helping you. This forum is not really made to answer questions like this.
Good Luck! I'll pray for your dog.

Have you contacted the SF SPCA yet? They will probably have suggestions, and also have their own low-cost vet clinic... good luck!

Also try the Pug Rescue societies - they have Vets they work with who may be willing to charge less.

Our dog had some issues resulting in severe back and hip pain. We opted to forego a scan and instead had our vet do a careful exam by hand, feeling the vertibrae and hip joint area. The conclusion was a slight misalignment in one area. We had them give him a cortisone shot (one off, bad to do this ongoing) and relaxants for a few days. Kept him out of the yard, from jumping, etc - manually lifted him past stairs, in and out of car. Kept it up for a couple of months, now he's OK.
