I'm out of practice with the whole car payment, insurance, DMV registration cycle. I've bought cars myself before, but my new adventure has surfaced all the male friends in my life who've graciously come forth to help a girl out. I am grateful.

I read about that care share thing and it seems like a great idea I can totally believe the peace not having a car brings especially up here in NH with snow and having to shovel and drive and worry about crashing I just want to walk my dog around and stress about my shoes on my feet not on my car Good luck with your car thing!

It is really great and it works well. I love the car sharing. Yeah I remember my parents cursing during the snow storms. Thank God when I learned how to drive we were in SF. I don't think I could deal with driving in the snow, shoveling and ice. I just remember the fun of playing in the snow, making snow people and all of that. lol! I appreciate the well wishes with the car thing. I'm going to need it. I feel like I'm getting married or something - it's a big decision after not having a car for so long. I'm officially going to call this expedition "the car thing". hahaa. My friends will get a kick out of that. Take care.
Aptor hours I just wanted to say totally off topic....your state is wonderful. Everyone I've ever met from New Hampshire has always been really nice, open and genuine. Thank you for bringing the good vibes across the miles. We need it!

It's funny -- I lived in San Diego full time for 8 years, and met a lot people, but it took about 6 years to really break into a cool circle of friends. When we went back to the Bay Area, we met great people within 2 weeks of hanging out in SF and are still great friends with all of them. There are nice, fun, down to Earth people everywhere, and in SF, there are a lot more people and places to go looking for them. It shouldn't be hard to make friends in the City.
It's true, though, that there are lots of negative people in SF too, but it's odd complaining about it if you are also one of them! All those haters shouldn't be there in the first place. Look there's a city for everyone. If SF isn't yours, then find the one that is. NYC is absolutely amazing, but I don't think I could handle that. And I live in the East Bay, not in the City, and I'm not sure I could handle SF parking, fog, rents, lack of space, etc. either. But it's still the most amazing city in America (and the only American city on the continent that made a recent "Best 50 cities in the world" list yet again!)

As for me, I love SF, having lived there for six years. It is a world-class city and I still miss it.

I had a few great female friends that lived there
Sadly they went on dateless or had a horrible personal life
And nope they didn't have horrible traits as many people seem to assume
It's just so sad what I found and I'm still a bit curious about this city
And NO I am NOT a troll
What can't people understand that ?

Never been. Well, unless you count the 1.5 hrs I spent waiting for a connecting flight to Portland out of SFO.
I've heard it compared to New York before, as in, "it's like the New York of the west coast!" (I've been there, and doubt that somehow...) I get the sneaking suspicion it's kind of like Portland on steroids which kind of automatically rubs me the wrong way, but I should go see it anyway. It's a measily 1:10 min plane ride from PDX.
