Montclair, is there a link to a map which would allow non-Oaklanders to locate where these neighborhoods are?

The Oakland of California Museum has an interactive neighborhood map. Its kind of cumbersome, but very useful.

This one surprised me the most. By far.

Dimond/ School $36,262 5 in 2008/ 1 in 2009

I consider Dimond to be a very nice area. There are yuppie bakeries and organic grocers, sushi etc. I wonder if any Oaklander would care to offer up a reason for Dimond cause I can't figure it out.

Its as if 580 stands as a reservoir or something. Everynow and then, murders splash over to the other side of the freeway like water splashing over the wall of an overflowing dam. In Dimond's case, all of its homicides are like a block from 580.

Does this count multiple homicides as one homicide, or as the number killed? I think the four this year in Eastmont may be that cop killing by Lovelle Mixon.

Weren't only two killed by Eastmont while the other two were killed further away? Or am I remembering wrong?

Montclair, I found this unbelievably cool and amazing. I know it's a job going through some of those crime maps - thanks for doing it. (I'd rep but it says I need to spread the love around first) But thanks!
