Default Monterey or Montecito? Any other suggestions

I'm moving from Manhattan's Upper East Side to California, and I am deciding between Monterey or Montecito. Are there any other places that are similar? I would like an area which retains old money families; I am not a fan of the bling factor of Los Angeles or Orange County. I am also starting a family soon so I would also like an area with very prestigious private schools similar to the sweaters and plaid skirts of Manhattan.

10 points isn't for your first post; it's for best recent troll.
Why settle for the rabble of Monterey when you can mingle with the well-heeled gentry of Carmel next door? Also, go for most anything with a "Rancho" in front of it, a la Rancho Palos Verdes, Rancho Santa Fe, etc...
