Default What's good in Hayward?

My family is in the process of closing on another home purchase and it looks like I'll be moving to the Hayward hills from Daly City. I'll probably be transferring to Hayward State University from SFSU but I'll see how the commute to SF will be in the fall (I work in San Mateo and have already registered for classes). I don't go to the east bay very often and if I do its typically in the Oakland/Berkeley area. What's good in Hayward? Decent night life? I'll be a good distance from my friends who mainly live in DC/SF so I'll have to find a way to entertain myself.

Nightlife's pretty limited in Hayward. Two main areas of focus for restos, etc, downtown and the Hesperian Blvd strip (West of 880). For real night life I'd imagine you'll be heading into the Oakland - Berkeley - Albany complex, or into the City. Oh, and since you'll be in the hills, you'll find yourself also heading into Castro Valley. Nice town.
