No need to backtrack now. You stated very authoritatively that Oakland's wealth was almost exclusively in the Northwest because it hurt your cause to admit that in fact, Oakland has rich people from end to end. And at the other end of town is a whole armada of wealthy blacks-conveniently ommitted from your lecture on Oakland money. LOL nice try at damage control but please, stop it. Your only digging a deeper ditch for yourself.
We now know your not from here and that you are simply a troll who thinks he's riling people up.

I had a chance to buy a home on Kingsley Circle for 49K last November. OMG, there is so much crime around there it is just shocking, which is a shame, because I've always liked the weather in Oakland, and lots of great restaurants, too. I hope things work out better, but they just need to return to more basics. 7-10K per year in property taxes for a little bungalow is a bit much, considering most wouldn't send their youngsters to OPS.

Yeah, the area around Foothill/Seminary is not my idea of a livable neighborhood. I saw a house on Harvey Ave recently and did not feel comfortable in that area. I did feel more comfortable a few blocks away on Wentworth.

Property tax of 7-10k would mean that Bungalow sold for 550k to 650k...
Oodles of bungalows far cheaper... Saw a 3 bedroom on Bartlett Street for 169,500...

This is part of the problem... Oakland is quick to get noticed for all things bad and not for anything good

That tends to happen in places where the bad outweights the good by a ton. Chicago, NYC, BOSTON, the good outweighs the bad.

Good to see the property values in Oakland are starting to deflate to a price that they should actually be worth.
