San Jose is an AWESOME city. Great restaurants and one of the safest big cities in America. Fremont's a nice city too. I guess unless you can't be shot on a moments notice its not "exciting" enough some of these folks on here.

No I live here. Theres really no pretending at all. This is unscripted. And the city really does suck. Oakland is literally the most stigmatized city in the Bay Area. People will seriously look at you differently if you say your from Oakland.

As third generation Oakland... I choose to live in Oakland... it's convenient... less than 5 minutes to the office, great weather... almost no heating or cooling days in my house since I super insulated... PG&E averages about $40 a month...

Don't have to get on a freeway to reach Oakland International Airport for Southwest Airlines...

People in surrounding communities should be grateful Oakland exists... they frankly couldn't deal with the problems Oakland deals with on a daily basis...

ssmaster is on a distinguished road
the oakland hills and foothills are extremily safe .i live in a safe fairly upscale area in oakland.most of my immediate neighors are dual income doctors ,security traders, cto, lawyers etc. sending the children to private school is more of a necessity but $350,000+ income seems to go a lot further than in the southbay.i am actually starting to think it's better if people don't find out about the oakland hills.keep it on the down low

There are rich areas, but notice they are concentrated near the berkeley border area in the north west. Areas like rockridge, montclair etc you might as well call berkeley.

That's the problem. They are Oakland yet people refuse to credit Oakland for having such nice areas. Why?

Oh really? I guess it doesn't matter that Berkeley was originally part of Oakland.

Bay Dude and that other idiot have probably never even spent time in oakland other than speeding through with locked doors. It's always some outsider that watches 24 hour news channels obsessed with Oakland's crime problems.

They know nothing about the city other than what they see on TV. It's funny they always go back to "I used to live there" yeah sure you did. Trolls is all they are. I'm waiting for him to post that Oakland video again he would post under his other names on here he used to bash Oakland. Must have been somebody from Oakland that he caught with his wife.

If anything, its actually the Berkeley Hills that are oriented towards Oakland side-not the other way around.

This has been the case from the beginning. I suggest you read up on the history of the East Bay Hills.

Also, the Southwestern Hills are also very wealthy. I don't want to say that you negate to point that out because you arent accustomed to seeing rich black people but just in case you arent aware, the Southwest Hills are also very wealthy and have very low crime.

Because that throws a serious wrench in their sweeping generalizations.
