Oakland sees 15% drop in Major Crimes
In a bad economy too? Actually this is occurring all over the country.
Anyway, Let's keep it up.

Oakland needs a new Mayor, once Oakland gets a REAL mayor who has presence in the community there will be some really great progress that does not include kicking out blacks like San Francisco has done.

The part of town I most fear that happening in is Downtown and West Oakland. One thing I have noticed though in West Oakland is that the sort of people moving in are not the martini-drinking hipster kind but more the vegan artist lesbian type. Make sense?

You mean poor blacks who can't afford high-priced liberalism have moved out?
No one was "kicked out". San Francisco has priced them out.

Went to dinner at Jack London Square last week. Outside the restaurant were two cars where cars aren't supposed to be, one limo and one not. Turns out that Dellums was eating dinner at the same place (with a woman I assume but do not know to be his wife) at the table next to us. The cars were his ride and his bodyguard's. He did not fall asleep during dinner . . .

Driving up prices and building un-affordable housing (unless you're very well off) is kicking out residents without saying it. See SOMA and China Basin -HP/Bayview/Fillmore etc

That is mostly true, but I believe some were kicked out when certain projects were torn down. As far as I know most residents of Geneva Towers and the like were moved to Section 8 housing in the East Bay.

Yes I see these types all the time. I live very close to west Oakland and see the condo's and lofts being built in the area that locals cannot afford unless you make at least 200 K per year.
