Default Commute Times

I am moving to SF from Fort Lauderdale and need suggestions on where to live with my husband and two black labs. We need a small yard and want to spend app. 3000 per month on rent. If anyone could help me with the following questions, that would be wonderful:
What is the commute time from Sausalito to Chinatown?
What is the commute from Sausalito to Daly City?
What is the commute from Pacifica to Chinatown?

Where would you recommend living if my work territory will be Chinatown/Daly City and South San Francisco?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I would guess the commute time would be about 30 - 45 minutes for all the places mentioned. Traffic can be a bummer a lot of the time. If your going to work in SF, Daly City or South SF, I don't recommend living in Sausalito. You would have to cross the Golden Gate Bridge every day ($5 toll one-way) and the traffic on the bridge can get ugly.

I agree, Sausalito would be the worst of those choices... crossing that bridge every day could be horrible, and there's no BART or Muni (public transit) to get you across. There is a ferry, but I'm assuming that would be a hassle. Pacifica and Daly City aren't bad for commuting to the city, since you can take hwy. 280, which has really easy traffic compared to 101. But Chinatown is ALL the way up north, so you'd have to deal with surface-streets through San Francisco. I'd suggest looking in the Sunset or Richmond districts of SF, which would cut your driving time in half... and both have a similar feel to Sausalito & Pacifica, if that's what you're looking for (weather, ocean, demographics, not too "city-like", etc). You'd also have more access to public transit, since driving & parking in the city can be a real pain.

Also, do you mean that you'll be working in BOTH Daly City & Chinatown? If so, the Sunset & Richmond would really be great, since they're right in-between the two! If you were only working in DC/SSF, you should stay in those towns or Pacifica - very easy commutes.

Default Sausalito Commute

Clearly none of you live in Sausalito. There hasn't been much traffic on the bridge since FastTrak was implemented, the ferry is convenient and takes 25 minutes, and the bus is comfortable as all hell.

Daly City sucks.

Pacifica isn't so bad.

But you only pay the toll in one direction, so net is $5 per day.
