Default Recent Smog

Any thoughts about the recent smog?

I think there was a rare weekend Spare The Air Day at least on Sunday (based on the freeway Sigalert signs stating "Repect the Speed Limit, Spare the Air").

My own opinion is, we had not had juicy, can cut it with a knife smog like that for a while. Even yesterday, it was still pretty thick, until the sea breeze kicked in in the PM.

Interestingly, from a vantage point mid Peninsula, the worst smog yesterday actually appeared to be in the Central Bay sub basin, not the South Bay.

That's interesting. I don't know what the actual smog readings were yesterday & Sunday. Do you??

In general, air pollution levels continue to decline everywhere as a result of lower emissions from cars and other sources. I recently read an article in the San Jose Mercury News that mentioned even today's ordinary (think non-hybrid) cars burn much cleaner than ones produced 10 years ago.

Looking out I saw the evening sky to be quite clear... that was until the Oakland Coliseum started it spectacular Fireworks Show after the A's game...

The cloud of Smoke was so thick at the conclusion that the lights of San Francisco's Skyline could no longer be seen
