Unhappy Working in South San Francisco, living in ?

Hi, I'm considering a job in South San Francisco. Haven't been there yet to visit. But if I accepted the job, and was willing to spend the $1400+ for an apartment (small I guess), where might I consider living if I wished to be near the ocean? (Or should I forget that and live someplace more affordable and visit the ocean)

Pacifica looks "real" nice. Don't know anything about Daly City, and actually I really don't know anything about Pacifica either.

Suggestions?

Do most people just forget about ever owning a home and figure their just gonna have to burn the dough on rent?

Also, if I commuted from someplace like Pacifica to South San Francisco, what sort of commute would I be in for? What time is the rush hour and how slow is it?

Oh, guess I should mention I'm primarily into outdoor recreation. Could care less about being near the city.

Thanks everyone!

Pacifica is a short drive to SSF. Sharp Park Rd changes names to Westborough and Chestnut before dead-ending; take a right at that point and Hillside will take you to Oyster Point. Rush hour is whenever it's hot.

And yes, a high percentage of folks around here are long-term renters. I wouldn't necessarily say that they give up hope of buying a home, but there are higher things on their to-do list.

Hi Sonarrat, So what would be some areas I might investigate? Like if I flew out for a weekend, what areas might I target concerning investigating an apartment ?

I'm kinda presuming around the mountain and south along the shore. Should I look in other directions?

10-4 about just renting. There are other places to put ones money rather than in a house; and having to take care of it.

thanks...

The area around Linda Mar is the sunniest and most desirable part of Pacifica, but the apartments I know of are clustered around the shore in the Coast Hwy/Clarendon kind of area..
