Default Is the Friendly Acres neighborhood a safe one?

I am contemplating moving my family to the Friendly Acres neighborhood on Redwood City and am curious about the vibe there. Is there a lot of gang activity, violence or drugs? At least more than anywhere else in the bay area with the exception of Richmond or Oakland? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!!!!!

The area (between Bay Rd and 101 freeway and north of Marsh Rd) is certainly better than Richmond and some parts of Oakland. It's middle class and a bit below that. Houses are generally kept up but there are exceptions. There sure are a lot of cars parked on the streets - almost no street parking left when I have been there.

I like it. It doesn't have the access problems of the westside or the run-down feel of North Fair Oaks. If you're considering that area in particular, you should also consider the part of Menlo Park just north of Marsh Rd, which is basically an extension of the same neighborhood and belongs to the same school system.

Thanks for the information! Are you referring to the area such as 12th through 10th streets?

Yes, and going south from there towards Marsh Rd. It's all still Redwood City School District, so not as desirable as Menlo Park schools, but not everyone can afford that luxury. The houses west of Fair Oaks Ave in the MP district are infinitely more expensive.
