Dear Lew Wolff: Please sell the Oakland A's
City Brights: Rich Lieberman : Dear Lew Wolff: Please sell the Oakland A's
Quote:
|
Whether intentional or not, Mr. Wolff has systematically ruined this baseball organization from top to bottom. He has directly alienated an entire fan base and city and region, openly campaigning for a new home, first in Fremont, and now in San Jose for the entire time he's owned the team.
|
This is so true.
But its not just Wolff, its the MLB. They don't want to be in Oakland and we've known that for a while.
Before Wolff and Company were allowed to buy the team, I suspect one of the reasons owners voted to allow the sale was because he promised to move them.
Why do I think this?
Because George Zimmer(Men's Wearhouse Founder and Oakland resident) and a group of Investors made a great offer for the team and expressly wanted to keep the team in Oakland, but it was actually blocked by the League.
That's the first and only time that's ever happened in MLB history.

Read the New A's Ballpark blog sometime. It beats the hell out of these loudmouth romantics in the Chronicle.

Awww.......don't move them, I like taking BART out to the stadium to watch my Angels destroy them.
In all seriousness, that is pretty shady that an Oakland resident was denied a purchase unless MLB was concerned over their financing which seems somewhat dubious here.
Hey look on the bright side, the Angels claim L.A. all the way from Anaheim just as the Rams before them, it's an O.C. tradition.

The Bay area will always be the bay. Doesn't matter where a major league team is physically located..it's the attitude and the mentality!
We rock!

A's need to stay in Oakland and get a new stadium it will change the city for the better. I can't stand the fact that another team wants to move down to the south bay.

So crime will plummet and the budget will be fixed by a new baseball stadium?

Interesting ..So you think crime would drop in Oakland if the A's left? I think a new stadium in Oakland could do the city some good.

All you did was flip what I said and it doesn't work at all.
