Default Places to live near Walnut Creek at $100K

My mom is thinking about moving to California to be near my sister after retirement. We initially look at retirement community like Rossmoor, but they are too expensive. Is there any place where someone can buy a condo or a single person place for $100K that's near enough to Walnut Creek?

Paul

There are some actually under $100K but you'd better get moving quick.

Like 18Montclair mentioned above, there are plenty of condos for sale under $100K in Walnut Creek. You shouldn't have a problem.

All of the condo listed are Rossmoors. They are essentially co-ops or condo that requires you to be over 55, pay an initial 5K to join, plus a monthly fee of roughly $500-$1000 a month.

Thanks. Do you know of other neighboorhood near Walnut Creek that would be safe and affordable? School would not be an issue.

You're not going to find a condo for 100 K in walnut creek unless it's a foreclosure and trashed. Maybe in Concord.

I realized this, but I was trying to figure out if the surrounding towns around Walnut Creek may have houses in the price range.

There is a very small 1bd in Walnut Creek for 109k
330 N Civic Dr #405, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 | MLS# 90049235

But it is a short sale, so who knows what it would actually sell for.

Concord tends to be cheaper:

1471 DEL RIO Cir, CONCORD, CA 94518 | MLS# 40422701
825 OAK GROVE Rd #65, CONCORD, CA 94518 | MLS# 40399839
1036 Oak Grove Rd #31, CONCORD, CA 94518 | MLS# 40422894
1036 OAK GROVE Rd #17, CONCORD, CA 94518 | MLS# 40381347
1133 MEADOW Ln #106, CONCORD, CA 94520 | MLS# 40416566
1036 OAK GROVE Rd #140, CONCORD, CA 94518 | MLS# 40417558
1261 PINE CREEK Way Unit E, CONCORD, CA 94520 | MLS# 40391547
2500 LAGUNA Cir Unit C, CONCORD, CA 94520 | MLS# 40422285
And 1 short sale that is identified as such:
2700 Laguna Cir Unit B, CONCORD, CA 94520 | MLS# 40423128

But I can't tell you how nice the neighborhoods are there, and HOA fees tend to be from $280-$500/mo on these places regardless of the price.

Okay, so I would say Concord is 'safe' but no where near as nice and safe as Walnut Creek. Walnut Creek PD is known for being stiff on crime since their residence pay a lot of good money to live there. The further north, aka Concord, North concord, Pacheco, Martinez, Pittsburg, etc., the worse the crime.

If you can find something in the NORTH end of Walnut Creek, anywhere in your price range, take it. The south end of Walnut Creek is higher in crime since it's nearer to Concord.

(I've lived in WC, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg, and Antoich)

HIGHLY recommend Walnut Creek for your mom. North end if possible.
