Default Making the move SF to Oakland/Emeryville!

HI all! My best friend and I just put a bid down on a house in Oakland/Emeryville border Stanford Ave.! I work the overnight shift and need to use the Bart train. Any comments on that area?! We are looking forward to the warmer weather and I hope to walk about with our new puppy!

Are you moving in upstairs in a two unit condo? If so we may be your (soon to be) neighbors.

There's like a hari-crishna church near there that my au pair frequents.

Anyway, welcome to the East Bay.

Yikes! Not the nicest part of town if you're too close to San Pablo.

The area near San Pablo has actually improved a lot in recent years (specifically, since Your Black Muslim Bakery shut down and took a lot of the associated activities with it). Still a lot of empty storefronts, but nowhere near as rough as it used to be.

If you're close enough to walk to Hollis, you can ride the Emery-Go-Round to BART; it's free, but it does shut down between 10 pm and 6 am, so it depends on your hours.

San Pablo is ok. Much better than living in East Oakland.
As in any situation, just be cautious. Stanford avenue is near Emeryville which is an upscale, educated community.
You'll be fine.

be careful, especially walking around at night, that's when the freaks come out! i used to live in emeryville, walking all hours with my hound. Remember, you are only steps away from West Oakland and aftermath of the likes of Dellums and Edgerly.
