Me too. That's a nice section of 880, and also when you get near Crockett and the Carquinez bridge, so scenic.
I'm sure there are other freeways worse than 880, especially in SoCal.

I know SoCal has busier freeways, but I have yet to see a freeway down there so infested with as many bad drivers as 880.
But who knows?

I think that 101 northbound between 13th St and Trimble, in San Jose, is even worse. The pavement disintegrated completely a long time ago, but we're still driving on it. San Jose consistently gets named as having some of the worst roads in America, along with Los Angeles.

It's due to all the semis hauling heavy containers in and out of the Port. That stretch is seriously in need of repaving.

Actually those reports(I know what your talking about) rank Metro Areas by what percentage of their freeways are travelworthy.
Both the Bay Area and LA tied for last- at 2%

Anyone else remember the Bumper Sticker that read, "Pray for me, I drive the Nimitz"
For those that are not local... every Freeway has a name.
East Bay Freeways include the Nimitz, MacArthur, Warren, Shafter, Breed amongst others...

My Dad always told me to avoid the Nimitz and take the Mac Arthur whenever I can since Trucks are banned on the Mac Arthur within Oakland.
A family friend, driving a VW Bug was killed in 1972 on the Nimitz when a truck merged into her land and her little car became wedged under the trailer of the Tractor Trailer...

Back in the Hwy 17 days it was already the Nasty Nimitz.
Wonder if that was the case even earlier when it was still called "US-101 E" and was only 2 lanes? (Before my time, for sure)

Depends if you were around when Mac Arthur Blvd. in Oakland was called Hopkins?
