The Cheesecake Factory atop the Macy's building at Union Square is a very nice location for dinner. I saw it mentioned and I'm going to ditto that recommendation. If you've never been to a Cheesecake Factory restaurant, it has a pretty big menu with a good variety.

I'm sorry, but you're suggesting "The Cheesecake Factory"? Why would anyone want to go to a food establishment that you can find in every mall across the country. It's a chain.
For a wonderful, exotic and unique meal try Aziza on 23rd Geary. Some of the best food in the City. There are many others as well. For a real taste of San Francisco, try Yank Sing for dim sum- (pricey but worth it).

Check out the Ferry building at the Embarcadero. Nibble your way through the market for a great day out on the waterfront. Also, drive up to Twin Peaks for a romantic view of San Francisco..Touristy but still worth it. Skip Fisherman's Wharf..just a large tourist trap. There is a beautiful walk along the Bay at Fort Mason/Chrissy Field/Presidio with fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge..very romantic! Just a few suggestions!

You'll be amazed by the beautiful gardens, homes/cottages and views. IMO, this is truly one of the most unique/beautiful places in SF. The beauty of the gardens and of the physical surroundings of Telegraph Hill will leave you breathless. Climbing back up the steps will also leave you breathless! If you want more info regarding the Filbert Steps/Filbert Street, go to Yelp and do a search for "Filbert Steps".

Besides the great view from the Coit Tower, you can also get good views of SF from the glass elevator on the outer wall of the Fairmont Hotel in Nob Hill and from the turning bar on top of the Marriott Hotel in Financial District.

The Tadich grill in the financial district is a great place to grab dinner as well....It's one of the oldest restaurants in the state and you'll feel like you stepped back in time.....and the seafood is great (a new englander saying that mind you).
After dinner walk up the hill and grab some cocktails at the Top of the Mark....great views during sunset.

If you like prime ribs, you will have to try the House of Prime Ribs on Van Ness Avenue. It is the best and worth the price and can get a second helping if you want. Of course for dessert, you would want to try something at the Ghirardelli Square.

You have to eat at DOSA. It is a South Indian restaurant on fillmore st. It is unbelievably fantastic and a really fun dining experience. The space is also super modern and cool, and a great San Francisco experience while getting to enjoy really great ethnic cuisine.
