Affordable Fun Places to live in SF similar to these places in London???
Hi
I am re-locating to San Fran from London, UK where I am.
I am looking for a 1 bed flat, no parking needed, quite near the BART in SF for no more than $1500 a month. I don't expect to live in the Bev Hills of SF - but would like somwhere I can walk to a store/bar/transportation that feels safe for a single female, and isn't right in the centre (although close).
Similar to: Putney/Fulham/Clapham Common/Kentish Town/Ealing/Angel.
Any ideas???
Thanks all,
H

Marina District sounds like a good fit.
It is not near BART, but most locals don't use BART unless they commute to East Bay. You don't need a car, there are many great restaurants, bars, lounges, stores, jogging areas (Crissy Field), MUNI stops. Check it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

The Marina is not near BART.
I'd recommend Glen Park, or, Bernal Heights. Somewhat lower on the "safe" scale, but not too scary either, would be The Mission.

The Marina or North Beach. $1500 might be a stretch for a one bedroom apt. - OK for a studio apt.

"It is not near BART"
Since you won't need parking, $1500 is feasible in Marina, you won't have a lot of options, but you will have some. I think it would be much harder to find in North Beach, but you might think North Beach is too "city". It's also another area that I love.

It's just actually comparing something I know to something I don't. Those are the types of places I like to live in anywhere in the world - so close to bars/stores/transport - each city has it's own unique version. I expect the people, vibe, and culture to be different of course - it's just I needed a bit of help finding out what kind of locations were right for me.
