Moving to Peninsula from Stockton - FINALLY!!!
After a long and exhaustive search I got a job in Burlingame. I am just so excited to move to the Bay. My roommate and I are both moving so we are trying to find a place to call home. I don't want to commute too far to work so I would like to stay on the peninsula. We are on a budget about $1800 or less for a two bedroom. We are both 30 and single, she is a bartender so we need to live somewhere that she can serve libations. We were thinking Pacifica, I am originally from Pismo and she is from Santa Barbara so we thought it might make us feel at home. What are your thoughts or suggestions.
PS Are there any good Property Management companies for rentals?

Pacifica is OK, however, somewhere along El Camino would be better for this aspect. In your price range, places like Daly City, SSF, San Bruno and Redwood City are the most prolific. If you are willing to search with patience, more upscale places such as San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame and Millbrae may be possible. Of course other than DC those are all Bayside communities, which are more like Van Nuys, North Hollywood, West Hollywood or Studio City, than SB or Pismo.

Stay close to where you will work - Burlingame, Millbrae, San Mateo or Belmont. Warmer weather with less wind and fog than living at the beach. The beach is about 30 minutes away from those towns.

There is an apt close to Broadway/Burlingame cal train station. You might get in there with your price range. Train stops only during the weekends here but on week days you get shuttles that serves from Burlingame to Millbrae.
Traffic between Millbrae and Hwy92 on hwy101 gets packed during the peak hours. But if you're living close to Burlingame or San Mateo it's not a hassle.

I dealt with Essex (which has several properties in Belmont) and found them reasonable to work with. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned an apt complex close to Broadway in Burlingame; that would be Northpark, a big sprawling complex with hundreds of units wedged in between the train tracks and the freeway. From what I understand, parking is a bear and though newer, the units are not that great.
