Is Forestville a friendly community?
I want to move back to Northern California and am interested in Forestville.
I live in a semi-rural community in north San Diego (yes there actually is one) where there's a great community spirit and it has been very easy to meet people and make friends (I'm single middle aged self-employed female)
I'm wondering if it would be relatively easy to make new friends in Forestville and if it has a sense of community.
Would love to hear from someone who lives there and even better, from someone who has moved there recently.
Thanks for any info

Where the heck is Forestville? It must in the middle of nowhere, or pretty far away. I don't think it's in the immediate Bay Area. Have you looked into Sebastopol? That sounds like what you're looking for.

Forestville is tiny- any reason you chose that town? It's one of the towns in "west county" or western sonoma county- lots of small communities with zero big box stores, mostly small local businesses and a very liberal mindset. Most town centers are just a block or two along a main road. Sebastopol is the largest town in the area. Further east along Hwy 101 you have larger towns and cities, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

tstieber, FVille is 7 miles from Sebastopol.
Saturn, i like the area, (know Sonoma county pretty well) like small communities, paprticularly ones that have the advantage of not being 2 hours away from larger ones, it seems to have some affordability. I like neighborhoods and communities where it's easy to get to know your neighbors, not so much just suburbs or bedroom communities where everyone gets in their car and commutes to work an hour away and really has no ties to the area.

Well, I've only driven through Forestville, so I don't know if the town is mostly Russian River resort or winery/agricultural based with seasonal population, or a real town with its own yearlong employment sources. Is affordability why you're staying away from Sebastopol, or you think it's too large?
By the way, here's a link to a pretty active west county/sebastopol bulletin board.

I have a dear friend who has lived there for years and she loves it. Don't really know much about Forestville myself, but having recently moved to Healdsburg I can vouch that it has many of the attributes for which you are looking. But you may have a specific reason for wanting Forestville.
Guerneville/River Road between 101 and Forestville has been torn up for awhile as they are working on the road; not sure exactly what, as I was advised by my friend in F-Ville to avoid it like the plague...
I hope you're able to move up here, as I think Sonoma County is a great place to live!

Thanks for the bulletin board link, and glad Healdsburg is working for you Macrina.
F ville looks walkable, not too redwoody, i like the area, has some 'affordable' houses ...as i say I do know Sonoma, if anyone has any other suggestions of places like this I'd like to hear about them. Doesn' t have to be Sonoma, I'm up for anywhere in Northern California. Horsey areas a plus!
Thx.

Forestville is cool if you want to be somewhat secluded. Have you looked at ranch/horse land in Graton. It's cool there too.
