East Bay Schools
Moving at the end of the month from NJ to Danville. Need some insight. How do all you moms and dads get your children to school when they are in the opposite direction? Ones in Monte Vista and ones in Diablo Vista. We're coming from a rural/suburban area where everyone is bused for fear of a child being hit by a car (really no sidewalks). We're in for some interesting and hopefully good changes.

Many times there will be a different bell schedues at each level of school (elementary, middle, high) so families have time to get to both. And often there is a choice of start times ("A" period, etc.) so you can figure out what works for you all. High schoolers will probably drive at some point (if they aren't close enough to get there on foot) or have friends drive them, and there is usually public bus service. I'm in a nearby city and drove my kids every day and don't remember having too many problems.

Check out pooltoschool.org for Danville school carpools. There are also buses, but I think they are rather limited and don't always sync with the bell schedule.
Danville is a wonderful, although expensive place. I am living there now, and really like it. The problem is that the commute is iffy depending on where you work. If you commute to SF, it could be at least 45+ minutes.
Also, since you are moving from NJ where there are lots of trees and greenery, Danville is probably one of the more forested areas. Dublin lacks trees (I lived there for a couple of years too).
