Most of that tax bill comes from his time as a Lobbyist in DC-at least that's what I heard on the radio.
And I agree, BayDude is just too gleeful about posting Oakland's bad news. Almost like a fetish.

This is very common with politicians. Nothing is going to happen to him, it will get settled and that will be it.

And for the record, I do not like Dellums as a mayor.

Here I thought that it could not get worse than Elihu Harris, but Dellums is a total non-entity as mayor. Not even a seat warmer - he rarely goes into the office. And while a warm pile of dung could probably do a better job than Dellums, replacing him with De La Fuente would be a change but not a significant upgrade.

Not to say Harris was a great mayor, but I think he was only a part time mayor -- I believe it was during his administration being the Oakland Mayor became a full time position and under Jerry Brown (although Harris's administration started the ball rolling) Oakland got a "strong mayor", which means the mayor has more authority to hire and fire and isn't just another vote like a council.
In reality -- what we need to do is vote out the incumbent city council people who have sat on their dead butts for far too many years, since they have an ice cubes chance in hell of getting elected anywhere else. We need some fresh blood, fresh ideas and people who are NOT beholden to the massive political machine we have in Oakland.
Our city council can stop anything and everything any mayor tries to do... which is why nothing is getting DONE.

Lmao, I'm simply posting the news as it relates to this forum and the fact its interesting stuff to discuss. If its negative on Oakland, well thats Oaklands fault. But as you probably know, "bad news" and "Oakland" are unavoidable and almost synonymous in the Bay Area.

Elihu wasn't a "bad" mayor. He set up a lot of the foundation/infrstructure that Brown was able to take advantage of when he stepped into office. Oakland's council is and has the problem as far as I see it and I've been watching for at least 15 years. Watch the city council meetings for a while or even attend them in person. You'll change your mind about past mayors.
