Default SF Voters Say No to Times Square Billboards

They would have been placed on Market btwn 5th and 7th. I think it would have been pretty cool.

Yeah, this was a shame. That area is blighted, and it could have created a bit of a novel attraction. The billboards didn't have to be permanent, but only a way of jumpstarting the area.

But there is not the sort of transit (especially rail transit) density there to make it another Times Square. Times Square has multiple subway stations at its periphery and like 4 or 5 lines going through it (well, under it) and more lines within a few blocks.

That area's in such a prime location, it's absolutely baffling to me that it wasn't "revitalized" years ago.

Are all the riff-raff and homeless considered historic landmarks in that part of SF?

SF residents can be real sticklers for a "cool" city. It really spoils the fun and its definitely not cool.
