Default Union Station vs Fisherman's Wharf vs Financial District?

Vacationing on the 24th to 30th with kids under 12. What would be most ideal location to stay during this time? Wharf area, financial district or union station area? Advise? Is there good transportation in the Fisherman's wharf area? I think kids would like there better.... but not sure..

Its actually called 'Union Square'.

kids would probably like Fisherman's Wharf. Grown ups probably Union Square.

Actually either one would be fun.

Financial District is actually close to Chinatown and North Beach tho which is cool.

I would agree that Fisherman's Wharf would probably be a better bet. Close by would be Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39. They can also check out the sea lions that have taken over some docks and even boats. You would also be able to get a good view of Alcatraz.
