What did you mean by some?

It is expensive but has a gym, pool and lots of young people living there. The apartments are nice but I think too expensive. Maybe not for you if you are considering Santana Row.

Right at the complex is "7 Restaurant". 7 Restaurant
That was the nicest restaurant when we lived there.

Tee Nee Thai, Sushi Infinity and Rosie's get good reviews.

There are other restaurants but not as well reviewed.

I would like to suggest you, downtown SJ because in San Jose you are easily able to walk to the restaurants, colleges, hotels, theaters and plumbing companies. MOD CUT

my opinion to your question! I believe that renting at santana row would be alot better than downtown because you have access to freeways like 280 and 880 and you also have plenty of places to eat out in a nice surrounding. you also have valleyfair right across the street and everything you can think of on steven's creek blvd. or south on san carlos and if like to go to a walk in cinema you have the century theater on winchester blvd. unlike downtown where you have homeless people asking you for money drug activities at night, and violence. that's my opinion.

I beg to differ - I find Santana Row rather artificial, it's like living in a shopping mall. It's overpriced for what you're getting. To each his own.

We're talking about San Jose, not San Francisco.

And Santana Row would be a bit depressing as a place to live, in that the 'locals' are people who come into your hood, max out credit cards trying to outspend each other, and leave. The 'neighbors' are people who overspend for a trendy living space, realize the folly of living in a faux Eurosnob main street, and soon depart.

How did you like living in that area? My wife and I are considering the townhouses across from cahill park because it's an easy commute to my job and the park and playground across from the townhouses is ideal (we have 2 dogs and a 14-month old). But I've been reading that downtown san jose isn't all that safe.

Did you feel that area was safe? And why did you end up moving out?

Thanks for whatever insight you can provide.

Went to the open house tonight for the high rises in DTSJ and I gotta say I am impressed. They are awfully nice and chic!

Even if downtown were actually unsafe, that area is generally considered somewhat separate. The 95126 ZIP code there has higher home values for a reason.

Usually because the houses are in better condition than the older ones downtown. For similar properties, downtown is more expensive.
