Why so many sex offenders? This was on my list of places to look and I happened to check crime reports and it looks like the entire city is blanketed with them. What gives? 102 in a population of 75K.

Thanks.

Do you mean that there are more police officers on the Redwood City force, or that Redwood City is a plcae where many police officers, from various forces, choose to reside?

I lived at 611 Topaz right next door to one of those sex offenders. He was very quiet and polite, much more so than the downstairs folks who weren't sex offenders..

Every big city has lots of sex offenders in the Bay Area. If it seems like RWC has more than others, it's probably because the cops there are good. The city was one of the first to have the "Shot Spotter" system for detecting gunfire, and they will actually follow up on noise complaints..

That database is worse than useless, it's downright dangerous in the wrong hands.

Being a registered sex offender is a meaningless term without further qualification. The same term is applied to a serial rapist and the guy who finds out a girl he hooked up with is actually 15 not 18. Any crime that involves sex, no matter how tenuously, can get you put in the database for life.

Is there a half-way house or some other kind of supervised release program in RWC? That's usually where you find concentrations of offenders.

Well they were literally blanketed across the city.

ITA, that it needs to provide more information such as year of offense, age of offense, etc.
