Hey guys,me and my girlfriend have been talking about leaving Fresno for a while now, for the same reasons most everyone else does and we are looking at possible places to move to one being this area or Orange County. The job market here is probably one of the worst in the country as far as far as everything goes especially technology-related jobs. I make a decent amount on unemployment, but it's tough to find work here even menial stuff. I have several years of experience in the information technology field, and I am currently a senior at California State University at Fresno getting my BS in Business Administration with a focus in Computer Information Systems. I would be staying within the same major an option, transferring to the other campuses. I'm also working on finishing my tech certifications as well. My girlfriend also has a degree and is looking for a job in education. My question would be should I consider transferring and finishing my degree there and getting a job over there, where the job market is much more suited toward technology or trying to finish my degree here then look for work after I'm done with school which could be a year or year and half?

I can't imagine transferring as a senior. Why would you do that? Maybe if you can do that without losing some credits... though I can't imagine the Cal State program letting you do that. Better check it out before anything else. Also, if you're not working, why is it another year and a half if you're a senior?

Yes, Fresno sucks in many ways, but you're almost at the finish line. If you want Orange County... look at housing rates. You may end up in a ghetto for what you're paying now. You won't be in Irvine, my friend, so don't be disallusioned. A place like Orange County can be wonderful... if you can afford what it has to offer. Same with Hayward... that's more expensive, too, just because it's the east bay.

If I were you, I'd finish the final year and start working on getting resumes out. I wholeheartedly agree you should get out of Fresno if you can... but be smart about it.

absolutely, that's why i wanted to post here to get some outside opinions on that. Most if not all my classes transfer over, an id prolly add a semester transferring as theirs classes i would need to additionally take. I definitely wouldn't pick the most expensive places in each area. Moving to San Jose or orange county wouldn't be a permanent move. And regards as to why its another year or year an a half, because of the classes i still need to take to complete my degree. I probably should just save my money for when im moving out to wherever we decide to go.

It may be difficult with the budget situation at SJSU, but avoid part time and temporary teachers.
