hey from the bay, what's wrong with farmers? Some of those farmers are millionaires. LB is hot, ugly, loaded with gangs, no cultural events unless it's May Day Parade, hahaha. Morgan Hill is ok, but is not the nice rural town it once was and the farmers there are multi millionaires ! Gilroy sucks, period.

However, people are all very pleasant here, and everyone is polite. (I think it is the "This place sucks, but we are all in it together" mentality). This is basically a one road town. The housing prices are a complete joke. I do believe that you would have to be a complete moron (or independently wealthy and not very bright) to buy a house here right now.

We have no real crime to speak of in this town. The reason? This town is FULL of illegal immigrants and their American citizen kids. They work hard, don't ask for much, and tend to keep a low profile. They care about their family, and don't bother anyone.

I love Los Banos and for who ever says that is sucks should really go back to where they came from .It started to suck ever since it started getting full of weired people and there are plenty of things to do in town,if you got to know the community well youd know there are lots of fun events that take place here in los banos

You must be a realtor or something!!! Property values were hot 2 years ago, but they have declined since then. Zillow.com will tell you that; just look at the sales history.

Houses are for sale everywhere, most with "Price Reduced" signs. My friend paid 375K for a 1200 sqft home in August, 2006. It is worth about 330k right now, at best. If she listed it for what she paid for it, do you think it would sell like a hot-cake? Or do hot-cakes usually sell for less than what it costs the guy to make them?

Also, I know for a fact that Lowe's is currently cutting back on their hours for employees except for management. Why they thought that this town could support 2 home improvement centers is beyond me. It's not like we are growing by leaps and bounds.

Chili's will do well, though, when it opens, as will Target. No one ever goes to the Big 5; watch and see, it will close eventually.

Also, the population here has completely outgrown its infrastructure. That means that the roads were not built to handle the current traffic roads. Pay too much attention to changing a CD in your car as you drive down the road and blam; it's all over. This makes for a dangerous commute, which is something to consider.
em...zillow.com isn't very accurate i mean ..come on if that was the case appraisers would use that site that sites a joke.... and em we go to big 5 there are alot of sports to be involved in ..in this town..soo yea...know what your talking about before you have an input on it...if you just came here then youd need to be here for a while before you understand our community

I Noticed that in Austin, Texas, electrical engineers are paid about 90K-120K, which pretty much the same in Sillicon Valley. Anyone know anything about IT salaries in Austin ? How about job avalability ? Many have said that Austin resembles San Francisco + Berkeley. I too, have considered commuting from Los Banos, but going across 152 would be dangerous and tiring.

Default ??

Everyone That Says This Town Has Nothing To Do Is Sooo Right...but Have Any Of You Seen The Crime Rate? I Think The Last Time There Was A Murder Or Anything Has Been Over 10yrs. Do Any Of You People Have Kids? Why The Hell Would You Want Them Growing Up In Ghetto Towns Like San Jose?? Gilroy Too, Is Full Of Crime...maybe Morgan Hill Is Not Too Bad But Who Can Afford It? Why Would You Pay 700k For A 1800sqft Old House?

Oh Yeah And To The Person That Says That Big 5 And Lowes Are Doing Bad...do You Ever Go Buy There? Its People Like You That Go And Give Taxes To Other Towns Instead Of Buying Here!!

In Conclusion This Is A Small Town Growing And Is So Much Better That Anyother Places I've Been Too. I'm Very Happy That My Child Is Going To Grow Up In A Place Like This. Things Are So Much Calmer Than The Bay.

Gilroy and Morgan Hill are nice as well and are about 25 - 30 minutes from San Jose. Think about it before you make the move out here---you will be at work or on your way to work most of the time to pay for a mortgage on a house you won't often enjoy. Great for workaholics, not so great for families. Also, the school system in CA is horrible. We have lived here our whole lives and now are leaving so that we can enjoy a better quality of life. Good luck to you.
Just curious where you are all headed to?

Default Not so bad!!

My husband and I moved here in 98, we wanted a nice house that we could
afford and have something left over. We have 2 children both started school
here. Yes the schools are crowded but where aren't they crowded in CA.
There isn't a lot of things to do, so you know what we spend alot of time
with friends and our family. I know kinda corny but awesome. My son is
in high school now still drug free. That's another positive point to raising
kids here. The close family and friend ties keep the kids out of trouble.
Traffic "and" I guess there's no traffice anywhere else in this state except
LB. We grew fast, and it will take time to catch up, time I'm willing to wait
because it is a nice place to live. We both commuted and now work in town
for the school district and the city. We can afford to travel and do things we want. Besides you are responsible for your quality of life not the town you live in.

Los Banos isn't a place where I would choose to live if California were my choice. For one, its too far out from San Jose - the commute would turn me off. Second, its too hot out there like living in San Joaquin valley. Third, not many people live out there and its isolated at best. All in all, if you are looking for affordability, yes it can be. But you are giving up so much more for what California is all about. If you wanted that kind of lifestyle, you'd be better off living in Nevada.

Whoever said San Jose was ghetto is smoking crack!!! Even the "ghetto" of San Jose is nothing. I have lived in towns of 80,000 people that were 10 times more dangerous than San Jose.
