Default Danville To Milpitas Commute???

Hello,

I am looking for information about the Danville to Milpitas commute. On Yahoo maps it is only about 35 miles, but I have heard it can be a really bad long commute. Does anyone have any knoweldge about this? Thank you!

Traffic on I-680 between Danville and the south bay can be a bummer on most days, especially in an area called the Sunol Grade (where the freeway goes over a not too high pass).

I remember a while back it got rated as one of the worse bay area commutes. Fremont through Pleasanton is pretty ugly.

680 is a nasty commute because it funnels traffic from a very broad geographic area down to the South Bay. 580 carries a lot of people in both directions. But for my money, it's still better than 880 with its Bay Bridge traffic.

680 over the Sunol Grade is awful. It'll take you an hour, at least. That's the direction of most Bay Area exurbs (Livermore, Stockton, etc.)

Danville to Milpitas on weekdays would take about an hour. Traffic backs up on Sunol as the grade over the hill is steep along with trucks and around 580/680 interchange near Pleasonton (ugly, just ugly). On weekends it takes only 40 minutes.

Danville/Walnut Creek area is a nice area no doubt. But if you have to commute into Silicon Valley, I'd rather move in closer to say Fremont, than do that commute everyday.

also adding to what palindromed said... you may want to check out fremont or even milpitas because milpitas is really nice in most areas.

Yahoo maps doesn't calculate human factors such as overloaded populations in Silicon Valley, so I stop using that a long time ago. If you still want to commute daily between those two cities, all I have to say is you're a brave soul.
