i just got a fix-it ticket in san jose, calif for expired registration and a broken windshield. i just noticed that he, (the officer), specified on the ticket for repairs to be done within 48 hours. i was able to get it registered, but i cannot get the windshield fixed by tomorrow. what do i do?

Never heard of such a thing. You should have a few months to get that fixed, and they know they can't expect people to do expensive repairs in two days.

I've had those before (on the East Coast). If there's a hazardous situation like a broken windshield or lights out, the officer can give what's basically a warning, as long as you remedy the situation quickly there's no penalty.

If you can't fix it on time, you should probably call the number on the ticket and ask for guidance.
