Anybody know the worst times in the morning for driving south on 880 from Oakland to Milpitas? I can go anytime between 6 am and 9 am and want to avoid the very worst peaks if possible. Thanks!
Alex

880 is heavy most times. I would say between 7-10 are the worst probably.

It's one of the worst commutes in the Bay Area. It's half the reason so many people are angry about the A's moving south. The traffic is slow even beyond rush hour. I wouldn't say there's every really a "best time."

The earlier the better. It's not as much a matter of whether the Nimitz gets gummed up by an accident, as when and how long it affects traffic. If there are lane closures anywhere north of the San Mateo Bridge, it can be slow going until noon.
