Hi All

My Nephew is going to start at Santa Clara University Grad School in January. He does not have a car. I looked at the 511.org website. For his class timings (the classes start at 7 AM - 9 AM on Mon, Tue and 7 PM to 9 PM on Wed) public transport is going to work. I wanted to know if there are any other economic way of commuting to Santa Clara university such van pools or any private bus service.

I used to rent to students at an apt bldg next to SCU, where I also lived for 10 years. I really can't think of any other transport options from San Ramon other than buses.

Can he drive? You can get an old Toyota for around $1,000 that will run forever. I bought my 92 Corolla several years ago for $900. Still runs like a top, though the a/c died.

Are you sure he can't rent a room in Santa Clara? Or is he living for free with you, perhaps.

Well, FYI, here is the off-campus listings for SCU. Includes rooms for rent. Next option would be Craigslist.

I do realize housing may not be of interest to you at all, but thought I'd throw it out there. There's just no easy public transportation from San Ramon that I know of. Don't know of any private ones, either. Maybe someone else here will know of something.
