Hello,
How would the commute be from Santa Teresa foothills(SJ) to Santa Clara (Rivermark area)?
www.walkscore.com predicts almost an hour during rush-hour. Whereas google maps predicts 40 min or so during the rush-hour (at least for a few days I checked).

Thanks in advance !!

That is a correct prediction. I made that same commute 5 years ago, and it was about 45 minutes then. Certainly it should be closer to an hour now

I'd do light rail. Yeah, it does crawl after you hit Children's Discovery Museum, but you're looking at about a 45 minute ride on the train and 15 minutes walking. Plus, I find it much easier to text and watch cat videos on the light rail than while I'm driving.

Agree, 45min - 1 hour in traffic but without a car incident on the road. I live in Santa Teresa.

I also did this as well and would recommend this for commute purposes. It took me about 45 minutes from Santa Teresa to River Oaks Parkway. The walk from River Oaks station to Rivermark Plaza is a very pleasant walk, goes by much quicker than it is.

ITA, my husband did that commute a few years ago and it was 35/40 minutes, I would imagine it is far worse now. I looked into the light rail for him and it took just as long so he opted to sit in traffic. It wasn't pretty.

I'd rather be on light rail. Once you get the hang of it it's just so much nicer.

I think 40 minutes is an underestimate for the PM commute. It takes me about 30 minutes to drive from my work location near Rivermark to DTSJ after work, and the freeway traffic from that point south just gets more jammed up from there.

Indeed, why would you want to sit in traffic for an hour when you can sit on light rail and have wifi? Plus you're not driving. I don't drive but it seems like stop and go traffic would be a pain to deal with.
