Hi,

I have been offered accommodation east of the Capitol Station VTA Light Rail, in the neighborhood around Regency Ave, San Jose (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Re...4d-121.8579793). I am wondering about the safety of the area. I see that the area has nice townhouses, but is also near a mobile home park. I will be walking to/from the VTA station for commute in the early morning and evening (sometimes in the dark), and the distance on foot is approx 1 mile. Is this neighborhood safe enough to walk? The neighborhood crime report map seems fine, but the proximity to the mobile home park makes me nervous. The price ($1.4k/month) also seems a bit low for the area.

Thanks for your help

In general, most of that area of San Jose is reasonably safe. Large portions of Monterey Rd. surround some sketchy neighborhoods, but the neighborhoods you'd be walking through to get to the station is generally considered to be a pretty decent part of town. Your concern about the mobile home park is irrelevant in my opinion. Silicon Valley is expensive and plenty of middle-income people live in them. It's not like some sort of trailer park in a place like Mississippi or Alabama.
