Downtown San Jose is a complete failure. It hasn't seen any new projects breaking ground for over 2 1/2 years, and no one is willing to invest downtown. Homeless people and thugs have taken over downtown.

Coming from you, who has compared San Jose to London, New York and Paris, this is really ironic.

I think Topper is trying a different tactic today.

Please stick to the topics, folks. There should be no more personal calling outs.

He's hoping that to counter his argument, other people would put up many examples of how much is happening in downtown San Jose, so he can find satisfaction in reading those, and re-enforcing his belief that San Jose is as lively as New York, London or Paris.

Sadly nobody has fell for that yet. It is a small community here. Really not that many new people except for new comers to the area who have no idea what he is talking about.

The new Google development will obviously have a dramatic impact, if it comes to fruition. It will have as much office space as 5 Transbay towers.

Homeless and thugs have always been the dominant tone in DTSJ. For 4 years, I went there to go to classes and then got the hell out. Never even went to the movie theater. The shopping scene is pathetic and stale and the restaurants are bad. We'll have to see if Google changes that, or if it just overwhelms the already poor infrastructure. It's becoming harder and harder to get to 880 so that I can drive to work in the East Bay, and BART isn't going to help much if downtown becomes just one big parking lot.

Exactly.

Sonarrat, you have described more than just downtown!

It's just talks and way down the future if this happens, which most likely won't happen.

What a sick thought/imagination
