Does anyone how this commute is these days, if one leaves by 7 am from near downtown San Jose then leaves Fremont anywhere between 4:30 and 5:30?

And does San Jose Diridon have a train that goes to Fremont? Does anyone take this train?

Thanks!

I don't have any personal current experience with this commute, but it would be in the opposite direction of most of the commuter traffic. I would think at 7am, you'd probably be driving at or near the speed limit the entire way.

Most of the traffic on I-880 and I-680 is heading south in the morning. Northbound I-880 doesn't usually have much traffic in the morning until you get up near Hayward and northbound I-680 would be ok too. (You didn't say which part of North Fremont, but I'm assuming you mean somewhere along the I-880 corridor)

I'd think that the commute home would be a little heavier but still probably completely reasonable. The evening traffic is mostly in the northbound direction.

I'm sure you could easily look up train schedules to see what's available, but just know that the Fremont station is in central Fremont. You'd have to find another form of transportation from the station to your final destination.

This would be a reverse commute, so it probably wouldn't be bad. Where's your destination in North Fremont? Ardenwood?

There is a train that goes from Diridon to Centreville (Amtrak Capitol Corridor), but would depend on how close you are to there. Still, if you have a car I expect you'd be better off driving this route.

There is also a VTA bus that runs from DT San Jose to Fremont Bart (think its 140 bus or something). There are a lot more transit options from there, but that bus takes a long time.
